This has been an exciting week for the global health and development community. We celebrated the 10^th anniversary of Grand Challenges. More than 1,000 scientists and partners from around the world gathered in Seattle, Washington to reflect on what the initiative has accomplished and look to the future.

The Grand Challenges initiative drives innovation and funds bold ideas for problems that disproportionately affect the world's poor. Some of the ideas are really bold. So bold, in fact, that they sound a little like science fiction.
