The Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI), Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Wellcome Trust, and Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation launched the International Research Scholars Program. This program seeks to encourage promising scientists early in their career who have the strong potential to make groundbreaking contributions in science in a manner that will further the partners’ respective charitable missions and result in a greater impact on key global health challenges. In addition to the financial support the scholars will receive, they will be integrated into a community that fosters their interactions with each other and with other scientists supported by the partner organizations. Today, the partners announced the selection of 41 International Research Scholars from 16 countries.
